On this video, Gary Young explains that research traces the history of essential oils back to before 2500 B.C.E., and is indicating that the Ancient Egyptians may have regularly practiced a kind of medicine that has viable and valuable uses even today.

He also tells us of a wall graphic at the temple of Dendara, depicting a high priest dispensing medicinal oils, to protect the city from plague.

Gary Young also explains that aromatic oils were so prized by the Ancient Egyptians that alabaster jars of pure oils were buried with with their Kings.

For example, when King Tutenkhamen's tomb was discovered, it contained 350 liters of essential oil.  [Note: Another source indicated that, while vessels that could have held 350 liters of oil were found (with traces of the oil — still good after so many years — in them), the oil itself had been looted many years before.  The oil was stolen; but, the many golden items were left largely intact.]  Gary asks the question, "Why did he have more oil than he had gold?"

On the Ancient Secrets of Life video, Gary also explains that, while he is a man of faith, he still wants to see the science supporting any claims about something, to see if it has any foundation to demonstrate its validity.

He notes that, because of what he went through during his recovery from a logging accident, he has been the victim of his share of so-called miracle cures that turned out to be garbage.

But, therapeutic-grade essential oils are different.  There is a great deal of scientific documentation as to the therapeutic effects that essential oils have on the body.

Dr. Ron Lawrence is a neurologist, retired UCLA professor and the author of the book, The Miracle of MSM.  On the Ancient Secrets of Life video, Dr. Lawrence explains how, when your nose picks up a fragrance, it's transmitted along the shortest neural pathway in the body, right into the center of the brain.

Because of this, he states, he has found aromatherapy to be very effective with many different problems, both physical and psychological.

He also notes that scientists are just now recognizing that powerful effect that scents can have on the emotions, because of their effect on the amygdala, the emotion-center of the brain.

From Dr. Terry Friedmann, M.D.:

"My feeling, my own philosophy, is that we should have more freedom to use natural, God-given products, like essential oils, over pharmaceutical drugs.  The reason — obviously — is: The less side-effects we see, the better for the patient.  And many pharmaceutical drugs, being of an unnatural state and processed to such a degree, we lose some of the benefit and get a lot of side-effects."

Dr. Friedman tells how scientific studies are showing that the responses of children with bahavioral problems to the fragrance essential oils are deeper than anyone had realized.

On the Ancient Secrets of Life video, Dr. Friendman relates his research on how essential oils affect these children, and he says that the results are very encouraging.  "You can sometimes see the brain's immediate response on an EEG."

With the use of essential oils, Dr. Friedman is seeing children with the high theta waves, indicative of a disoriented, easily-distracted child, brought back more to normal, with predominantly alpha waves, and beta waves higher than the theta.  "This is what you would expect to find in a waking, alert state."
