About pumpkin seed oil:
Pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L. convar. Pepo var. styriaca GREB) is native to Austria, and is a member of the Cucurbitaceae botanical family. The oil is cold pressed from the seeds of the Styrian pumpkins of Austria.
Pumpkin seeds are rich in many essential nutrients, including zinc, vitamins E and A and essential omegas (omega 3 and omega 6). Their oil makes a tasty way of supplying EFAs for smooth skin, increased energy and improving and maintaining sexual health, as well as for optimum brain function. It is high in protein and zinc, as well as poly-unsaturated fats.
Not a new culinary discovery
Although pumpkin seed oil is a new culinary and nutritional discovery for most of the world, it has been a well-kept secret for nearly 300 years in Austria's Steiermark Region.
In this region, the classic "Styrian" and its offspring, the "Gleisdorfer" pumpkin, flourish in the lush foothills of the Alpine Mountain Range. (Styria, or Steiermark, means "the green heart of Austria".) It is here that the oil pumpkin ripens all summer long under heavy sunlight.
