Elemi oil has a spicy, incense-like scent that is soft and somewhat balsamic.  It is highly regarded today for smoothing wrinkles and for skin protection, as well as for soothing muscle pain associated with exercise.

About elemi oil:

The Canarium luzonicum tree originates in the Philippines, and belongs to the same botanical family (Burseraceae) as frankincense and myrrh.  Elemi oil is distilled from the gum of this tree.

Elemi oil was also used by the 17th-century physician J. J. Wecker, on the battle wounds of soldiers.  It has been traditionally used in salves for the skin, and is included in celebrated healing ointments such as baume paralytique.

How to use: Apply topically or diffuse. May be added to food or rice milk as a dietary supplement.
