About Laurus nobilis oil:

Laurus nobilis oil is often added as a fragrance to cosmetics and perfumes, and has antiseptic properties when diffused.

The ancient Greeks and Romans used leaves of the laurel tree to crown their victors, and the Greeks crowned their scholars with them, as well.  Both its leaves and berries were used to improve appetite and calm digestion.
