Lemon myrtle oil has an uplifting, refreshing and clean citrus aroma, often described as "more lemon than lemon".  Its fragrance is mentally cleansing and enhances concentration.  It may also help with relaxation and mental rejuvenation, clearing the mind to aid restful sleep.

Lemon myrtle has also been extensively studied for it's highly antisceptic properties.

About lemon myrtle oil:

Backhousia citriodora is native to Australia, and is a member of the Myrtaceae botanical family, and grows mainly in the rain forests of coastal Queensland, from Brisbane to Cairns.

It grows naturally to a wide range of sizes; from a large shrub to a medium-sized tree (between 9 and 95 feet in height).

Lemon myrtle oil is distilled from the leaves.

 

Chemical constituents:

• Geraniol (51.4%).
• Neral (40.9%).
• Trans-iso citral (2.6%).
• Cis-iso citral (1.7%).
• Trans-geraniol (0.7%).
• Citronellal (0.5%).
• 5-Methyl-6-en-2-one (0.5%).
