Besides having a reliable source for essential oils, reliable information about the oils is an integral part of any aromatherapy work. Answers to questions like "How does aromatherapy work?" and "What's the latest research on essential oils?", properties of the oils, and so forth are very important.
However, the question of how aromatherapy works is too broad to deal with adequately on this website. In addition, the FDA severely restricts the information that can be presented here. And so, basic background information is about the best we can do here. For the nitty-gritty of essential oil use, you really need a few solid resources. One of the best you can find is the Essential Oils Desk Reference, published by Essential Science Publishing.

The history of aromatherapy
What healthcare professionals are saying about Young Living.
Using essential oils effectively:
Here, we'll take a look at some basics on ways to use essential oils and some safety guidelines and which oils are considered safe for consumption, as well as what a session with the oils would look like.
There is also an article on direct inhalation, a simple and effective way to enjoy the many benefits of an essential oil's fragrance.
Gary Young: the man behind the oils:
We'll also take a look at Gary Young, the founder and president of Young Living Essential Oils. We'll look at Gary's story, and how essential oils helped him to recover from a crippling logging accident, to become one of the leading authorities on the medicinal use of essential oils.
Gary Young has taken a serious hit from a website run by QuackWatchers. He, along with most of the other leaders in alternative or complimentary health, have been targeted by this group, which has smeared them with a host of lies and misrepresentations. If you have seen this website and have doubts about the integrity of Gary Young, or the value of Young Living products, you should take a look at Watching the Quackers: The Truth About QuackWatch.
Gary has also begun work in Equador, where he has been doing research on new essential oils and teaching in a university, doing cutting-edge clinical work and setting up new Young Living farms. You can see the January 2007 update on this work at Gary's Notes from Equador.
NingXia Red®: the premiere super-antioxidant juice
Brunswick Laboratories of Wareham, MA has done an independent study of the antioxidant capacity of Young Living's NingXia Red®. This study demonstrates that Berry Young Juice® (recently renamed NinxXia Red®) has a significantly higher ORAC score than any of the leading function berry juices. Take a look, and be amazed.
The importance of water to aromatherapy and a nutritional program
One of the things I've found to be extremely important with the use of essential oils or dietary supplements is water. Your body is largely water, and you need to renew its stores regulary to maintain proper hydration. You've heard that for years, and it may seem hardly worth mentioning, but it really is critical to your health and bears repeating.
- Water helps to carry nutrients to and into the cells of your body.
- Water carries wastes out of the cells and is critical to flushing toxins out of the body.
The problem here is: The water we drink creates its own problems for health. There are two reports: Is Your Water Poisoning You? and The Reality of Water that shed some light on this. The answer I've found — the end of a long search for a viable source of water for me, personally — is in hexagonally-structured water.
Finding more essential oils information and how aromatherapy works
Two of the most powerful aromatherapy applications are the RainDrop Technique and the Vita-Flex Technique. Limited information is available on this website about these two methods, but for a fuller understanding of them, and to obtain books and/or videos about them, you'll need to go off-site to Health-Essentials.info.
Health-Essentials.info also provides a lot of other useful information on essential oils, aromatherapy and other health-related topics.
