When I say that "only Young Living Essential Oils offers essential oils that can honestly be called therapeutic-grade, with all the properties needed for effective aromatherapy", this statement needs a little qualification.
For several years, independent studies have confirmed that, in North America, Young Living Essential Oils was the only company you can trust to consistently provide you with essential oils that are genuinely therapeutic-grade. And, for some years, from my research and contacts I've had with others in Europe and elsewhere, it was apparent that the quality of essential oils generally available elsewhere is rather poor, as well. (The term "garbage" crept into the conversation quite a lot.)
However, Young Living Essential Oils doesn't produce all of its own oils; about 80% are obtained from third-party sources. And Dr. Daniel Pénoël, a medical doctor in France, uses essential oils from other sources (although he speaks highly of Young Living Essential Oils).
So, until recently, unless you were exceptionally well informed, or just plain lucky, you weren't likely to find therapeutic-grade essential oils from any other sources.
A change in the status quo
I troubles me to say this, but my impression has been that the overall quality of Young Living's essential oils has declined over the past two-to-three years. I've heard some unconfirmed reports that would support this impression.
